Breast Cancer Awareness
Campaign
Developed communications plan to launch a campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer and increase the number of mammograms among African American women in Portsmouth which has an alarming mortality rate. Used traditional and social media as well as grassroots strategies to reach the target audience.

Fort Monroe Authority
Public Relations & Crisis Communications
Developed and implemented a public relations and crisis communications plan for Fort Monroe following its decommissioning as a military base. Managed media relations, messaging, and community outreach to shape public perception and engage stakeholders during its transition to civilian use.

Norfolk and Hampton, VA.
Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion Project (HRBT)
Leading the communications task team with VDOT on this $3.8 billion-dollar historic project. Wrote the communications plan that includes robust engagement strategies and media planning. Designed the project logo that is being widely used to identify the project – apparel, signage, correspondence, etc. Conducting community presentations to diverse organizations, developing Constant Contact project newsletter, updating content on the project website, etc.

Hampton Roads Transit
Crafted the community outreach strategy and plan. Identified influencers and key stakeholders for regional transit partnerships. Coordinated media relations and grass-tops strategy. As HRT develops its strategic plan, we facilitated a regional transit advocacy initiative with a cross-section of diverse stakeholders including business, education, healthcare, paratransit, military, environmental, government, civic and various grassroots organizations.

Elizabeth River Crossings
Utilized our vast database of community stakeholders in the areas of education, business, healthcare, minority awareness, faith-based, civic, political, environmental, military and media. This cross-section of the community was contacted for project presentations to update the public about the scope and timeline of the tunnel projects. We helped with public meetings and open houses. We advised ERC about forming a Transportation Advisory Committee. We recommended members and contacted them. The first meeting was a success and now they are part of our grassroots and outreach effort. They identified those in their respective spheres of influence of the project and notified ERC of outreach opportunities.

Led the public engagement strategy that includes crafting a written and robust engagement plan, public meetings (virtual and in person), stakeholder interviews, HRPDC social media platforms and project webpage, Technical Committee and Policy Committee, military CPLOs, etc.

Coastal Resilience Master Plan
Led the public engagement and outreach in multiple jurisdictions including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Middle Peninsula, Eastern Shore, Chesapeake, Newport News and Hampton by collaborating with key stakeholder groups in each locality. Tools used for public meetings were Zoom and in-person hybrid meetings.
